Native to rainforests across South America, the Philodendron Silver Sword is becoming an increasingly popular houseplant. Silver swords are characterized by their arrow-shaped, silky smooth silvery green foliage that keep their silvery color even as they mature. These plants are great climbers and will send new shoots out to explore their space. Pet owners and parents of young children should be aware that like all Philodendrons, the silver sword is considered toxic to pets and humans if ingested.

    PHILODENDRON SILVER SWORD CARE

    LIGHT

This plant will thrive in a spot with plenty of bright, indirect light. Place them near a sunny window, but away from the harsh direct sunlight. Too little light will result in the leaves looking lackluster with leggy, stunted growth.

    WATER

The Silver sword likes its soil to stay evenly moist, but not wet. Let the top inch of soil dry slightly between waterings and then water thoroughly until water drains from the bottom of the pot.

    GROWTH HABITS

These plants love to explore, so with the right care, you'll see new growth being sent out to check out its surroundings. It might get a little leggy as it grows, you can cut back those leggy vines if they don't fit your aesthetic.
